 | | Lee Kernaghan The Christmas AlbumPrice: $29.95 There comes a time in every successful artist’s career path, when they know it’s just the right time! Time for the Christmas album. Usually, as in this case, it’s an artist’s way of being a part of his or her fan’s Holiday time of year. This explains why we seldom get a departure from the traditional Yuletide songs and Stringy arrangements. Lee Kernaghan’s Christmas Album is no great exception. It too, is a gift to the legion of fans he has around the land, with seven traditional songs of the season including ‘Mary’s Boy Child’, ‘Have yourself A Merry Little Christmas’, ‘Silent night’ and ‘Away In A Manger’, but there is a deliberate attempt to keep the seasons correct for our steamy summer weather, and that’s a very good thing. The bonus here is the handful of original songs Lee and producer Garth Porter have included. ‘Santa Claus Is Back In Town’ is not the one you might hum to yourself when you read the title, but a new reworking of the ‘Boys From The Bush’ anthem stamping the Lee Kernaghan mark all over this album. ‘It Must Be Christmas’ is a rocking little number, horns and all, and well suited to a Christmas bush or beach barbie. ‘Merry Merry Christmas’ is a bit of a standout track, with Lee getting a hand from both Gina Jeffreys and little sister Tania, and old mate Troy Dann to keep the spirits high. Another nice inclusion is the song by John Williamson ‘Christmas Waltz’ to complement a very Aussie theme to this album, and another welcome reflection of Christmas Downunder. Rosie - Country update
