 | | Ted Egan I - O - UPrice: $24.95 Ted is the real outback character with stories to tell and usually a unique way of presenting them as well. For his first new recording in a decade, he has turned to John Kane and Mark Walmsley to produce his new album. John, as part of the Flying Emus has been involved in previous recordings by Ted and so approaches this one with a very sympathetic ear. He’s kept it clean and free of overbearing instrumentation so that the emphasis is always on the delivery of Ted’s tales, and the lyrics and the bush yarns spun in detail by long time collaborator Ted Simpson, whether it be the story of the old drover “Old Ned” or the bush characters he brings to life so easily like “Edna” and “Rusty Reagan. Noteworthy inclusion is the duet with Jimmy Little “Keepers of The Flame” where Jimmy’s whispering, silky delivery overlays Ted’s melodic style. A handsome 32 page booklet is also included bringing the visualisation of his subjects to life. Track List: Old Ned, Leave Him In The Longyard, Down The River, Keepers Of The Flame (With Jimmy Little), Goodbye Old Chap, Vale Rusty Reagan, Rusty Reagan's Reel, Packhorse Drover, Tommy Dodd, The Girls Of Meekatharra, Drought, The Wave Hill Track, IOU.
