 | | George Strait Honkytonkville Price: $29.95 How good is it to have George Strait back in top form. Well, two great bits of news for fans of this George; One, that Live in Houston performance is now out on DVD in Australia and; Two, the album of all new material is here and he's back to his best. I believe he recorded his vocals at home in Texas which might just be the key and so we have a dozen top songs, no passengers here, from the top shelf team of writers, like Dean Dillon, Jim Lauderdale is in there, Russell Smith, Red Lane, with Monte Warden and Bruce Robison bringing home that Texas style, and even Billy Yates and Ken Melons get their name on a song. George has got the style back, nothing done by the numbers here, the honkytonk songs like She Used To Say That to Me swing and the trade mark ballads tug at the heart strings, Tell Me Something Bad About Tulsa. There's Heaven Is Missing an Angel and As Far As It Goes aimed straight for the ladies. And as for the musicianship, production and vocal delivery, this is a really good George Strait album, which actually makes it a really great country music album.
