To think that a group of young Aussie acts who have come to prominence in the last 5 or 6 years could dip into the library of classic songs over the last 30 years or so and produce this wonderful and diverse collection. The songs of Shorty Ranger, Slim Newton, Joy McKean, John Williamson, Graeme Connors, John Kane, Stan Coster, Eric Bogle alongside others from the fringe of Country, Don Walker, Archie Roach, Neil Murray, Andy Durant and more. Performed by today’s stars, Adam Brand, Sara Storer, Melinda Schneider, Brendon Walmsley, Darren Coggan, with some recently established acts like Carter & Carter, Peter Denahy, Travis Sinclair and even newer from this year’s crop of talent, Michael Carr, Drew McAlister, Dianna Corcoran. Stand out performances from so many performers here. Melinda’s “Cootamundra Wattle” Brendon’s “Now I’m Easy” Sara’s “Mallee Girl”, too many to pick them all out and these fine new artists bring a new arrangement to so many of our favourite songs.
