Michael Fix Timelines
Over the past 20 years, Michael Fix has released ten albums, several singles and EPs, and has established himself as one of Australia's finest guitarists and composers, performing at festivals across Australia, Europe, Asia, and writing evocative music for television, film and documentaries. He's won numerous awards for his music, including three Golden Guitars, and, as a Maton guitar endorsee (with his own signature model guitar), his guitar workshops are in high demand all over Australia and internationally. In recent years Michael's reputation has grown rapidly. He receives regular invitations to perform at festivals and concerts throughout the world. He has toured with artists as diverse as Albert Lee, Christine Anu and Anne Murray, as well as appearing with the world's greatest guitarists - including Leo Kottke, Tommy Emmanuel and Martin Taylor - at festivals in Australia, New Zealand and the United States.
In all the years that I've been performing, I have always included arrangements of covers in my set. I love playing covers - mostly they are personal favourites - but there is also a great deal of satisfaction to be gained from the creation of a unique arrangement. Tunes evoke nostalgia, meaningful songs bisect the time lines of our lives and become aural bookmarks, marking significant events: first kiss, first date, holidays, marriage, break-ups
The tracks I've recorded - seven covers, seven originals - are points on my own time line. I hope they resonate with you, too.
